The Khuraishis
The Khuraishis
Tracing the roots back, we find that the Khuraishi family is linked back to the Quraish tribe of Mecca (in Saudi Arabia). Going way back to the period of our beloved Prophet Mohammed (PUH).
The word is that the journey from Mecca to India happened many heads back, probably pre-Vasco Da Gama days, when one of the Quraish was leading a security escort aboard one of the merchant ships that did regular trade in spices along the Malabar Coast. On one such journey, he took ill and was forced to stay back. Evidently, three of his sons had accompanied him on that fateful trip and all three stayed back to tend to him.
Unfortunately, he did not recover from his illness and passed away and was buried in India itself by his sons. The three sons then split apart to travel in different directions. While one of the sons traveled north (we find many Quraishi/Khureshi families through out North/Central India and Pakistan) while another traveled in the South Eastern direction via sea (we see many of our ilk across Malaysia/Singapore/Indonesia). The third traveled across the South Indian region and that is where we are directly connected to.
I am still exploring to find as much of our ancestral tree as possible.
